Good reading,I use a model A kingpin thrust bearing in between the nut and washer it makes it easier on the bolt and easier to turn.

I would be somewhat leery of installing the bushing with a hammer. The front of the crankcase is not that strong, and may bend. I would prefer to have the pan bolted in the car for support.
