My 1920 T has a 1 man top and a straight up windshield frame. I’ve read that Canadian built touring cars sometimes had newer styles than usa built. Every picture I can find of cars with the one man top, have a slanted windshield. Is it possible that my car has the wrong windshield frame? As I go through the car, I’m finding many things that are not correct so wouldn’t be surprised if it’s supposed to have the slanted frame. Can anyone help me on this?
Not certain about your research…did you find this information about “How much does the 1923-25 Touring rear top bow go past the rear panel What about a 1922 Canadian Touring one man top?” see: Model T Ford Forum: How much does the 1923-25 Touring rear top bow go past the rear panel What about a 1922 Canadian Touring one man top?
There was a discussion about the Canadian 1920-22 Touring one-man top and windshield on the other forum. Date was August 2007 by Hap you may want to take a look at. The windshield seems to be special also and could be why you have what you have. It also has different top-iron support clamps than U.S.
. Attached is a clip out of that thread.
Thanks for the info and pictures. I can see in the photo that the windshield is slanted. The clamps match what is on my car. Top frame irons look the same too. I’m planning to replace the top soon, I’ve done several of them before. I’ll make my own from scratch and put the correct shape rear windows in. I’m thinking I’ll get windshield stanchions for a 23-25 usa built car. Should take care of my issue. The top frame doesn’t sit right on the straight windshield frame.
Thanks for the info. Pretty much confirmed my suspicion. I’ll get it sorted out and post some pictures.
Actually, now that I compare the picture of the top irons with my car, they are not the same. Mine are not the same as the car in the picture either. The main bow that bolts to the body is bow #2 with the rear bow attached to it about 4"up.
This a picture of my top frame. It doesn’t look like any other frame that I’ve seen in pictures. I did see that someone wrote that 1920-25 Canadian cars had 5 different frame versions. This must be an early one.
The top itself is not correct, it won’t fold down into the clamps because the material won’t let it. It should look like the top pictured at the top of the thread with no flaps coming around the sides.
