A family out for a spin

McRoberts KY was a coal camp town in the eastern Kentucky coalfields. Days of lesser dependency on coal have not been kind to McRoberts. In its heyday close to 3000 miners dug for coal there but a headcount earlier this year put the population at 662 hardy souls.

The T Model looks to be a 1922 or likely earlier machine. Our ’22 touring favors it in many ways but the non-demountables are problematic. Given the status of roads of the day in the US in general and the toll it extracted on automobiles, the Ford looks to be fairly new. Your take on the T would date it as a ?

Well, the front fenders show damage, particularly driver’s side. I’ll go with 1919

1919 - 22 is as close as I am going to get. It’s a cheaper T with no battery or electrical equipment as it has non - demountable wheels and kerosene lamps. Neat image.
