Adjusting Engine Brake Spring and Nut

I have a question. Any help would be appreciated. My question is when you’re adjusting the engine brake with the nut inside of the Hogs head does turning it clockwise help with the break tension or counterclockwise in order to get a better break pedal. I’m not sure of the condition of the bands without taking it apart obviously. I think the bands are actually pretty good because low and reverse work very well.

Turning the nut clockwise (tightening the nut) will tighten the brake band, giving you more brake (less brake travel) You only want to turn the nut a quarter turn or so at a time until you attain the desired tension. There are utube videos that show the entire process .

½ turns as the nut will then be locked by the slot and the washer.
