Alternator Not Charging

Recently, I changed from a generator to an alternator which I purchased from lang’s. However, it doesn’t appear to be charging. Is there a different wiring setup to the switch that is different than if you are using a generator? Any help would be appreciated thank you.

Is it a GM style one wire alternator? If so the only connection should be the yellow wire that used to go to the cutout. You will likely find that you have to rev the engine up pretty high for the alternator to “cut in”. After it cuts in, you can reduce the engine speed and the alternator will continue to charge.

You should call Langs and ask those questions.

If the battery has a good charge, the charging system will not “put out”. The car does not require much if any output to run. I would check the voltage at the battery, it should be over 6 volts.
