Buzzcoil issues & questions from a beginner

Hi! Im just beginning restoration of my Great-great-Grandfather’s 1923 coupe which was partially restored by a neighbor in the 80s. Power isn’t getting to the spark plugs, and using the volt meter to trace the issue, it seems power is coming in to the coil box from the ignition switch just fine, but I can’t get a reading from the side connections to timer or spark plugs.

I took apart the timer and it seemed fine. So I took the coil box off the car and connected the coils’s bottom and side terminal directly to the battery terminals, and there was no buzz. they ought to buzz when connected like that, right? Not to mention, the restorer in the 80s the guy put in plastic buzzcoils and I cannot get them out of the box no matter what I do. seriously, I have pryed and prayed.

what next? Do I need to get new coils and a new box?

I’m a newbie also, haven’t had any experience with the plastic ones. Was thinking, if you could get a putty knife between them a spray a little wd40 in there, might help.plastic gets sticky as it ages.
