Would someone please pass on some knowledge as to what this hex is for on the pinion bearing? It’s on my Canadian 1919 Touring. Is it a diff fill plug ( doesn’t make sense) or does it have something to do with the bearing itself? I cracked it, it was finger loose for about 3/4 turn and got tight. Put wrench on it and pushed gently. Nope, not chancing. Figured better to ask where there is someone wth more knowledge.Thank you in advance.

That locates the sleeve for the roller bearing. If you remove it you will see that it is a short bolt that is not threaded all the way and the part below the thread is smaller in diameter so it fits into a whole in the roller bearing sleeve to keep it from moving.

Thank you Rust_t_fender. That makes perfect sense. That is something that is not on my '26 Tudor, so hence the question. Appreciate the info.
