Boss and Jack Eddins operated the first auto repair shop in Burlington, the county seat of Boone County, Kentucky. Burlington is in northern Kentucky some 20 miles southwest of Cincinnati. This photo dated 1915 shows the Eddins Brothers Garage which stood on the east side of the East Bend Road a mile or so from town. An advertisement in the Burlington School’s 1915 Purple and Gold yearbook noted that “Ford Repairs And Supplies Are A Specialty.” An ad in an edition of the Boone County Recorder stated that they had an “Auto for Hire at All Hours.” The Recorder was published until recently, falling victim to the malaise affecting much of the print media.
That picture looks like it’s pretty dry but normally there is a lot of rain and mud in that area.
That must be why the building sits on such high ground.
