Got a Question....1909 Water Pump Engine....Crankshaft Gear

I’m probably over thinking this, but what holds the gear to the front of the crankshaft. I need to see those parts. Probably it is no different than any of the later cars, but things were done sometimes very differently and sometimes slightly with the first 1909 cars later (somewhere around mid to late 1909 they went to thermosyphon.which is what our cars are today. I know what the crankshaft looks like, but everyone of the pictures I’ve found, have the bloody gear on it already. What I need to see is the gear and what it takes to mount it to the crankshaft (also showing the timing mark in relationship to # 1 position on the crankshaft would be a big help too).

Great article by someone who knows how to Fix It!

Yes, I drew that assembly back when Royce published his rebuild of one, in fact he sent me those pictures also got the 2 Piece Timer from him too and the Stromberg, Model B No. 3 . The engine is what I’m trying to draw now. Since there is so much that goes into any engine I’ve got to draw it in two separate drawings. The Short Block Assembly and the Final Engine Assembly (as it would go into the car transmission and all). It’s either I draw them as 2 drawings or I’ve got to make a 11 x 17 fold out (I hate fold outs, they always tear and you’re left with only one of any two drawing assembly and if I made them both on 1 8 1/2 x 11 page, you’d never see the details you need to see).

The only other person who in all probability has one of those crankshaft is Kim Dobbins and he’s really hard to get a hold of. And Gail Rodda, I’ve called him a couple of times. But neither of these two gentlemen have any pictures of this particular part that they could send me and the part in question isn’t in any of Gail’s books either (wish it was). I could post what I’ve to so far, but I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t help any, it’s just a rough. But the only thing I’m missing is the bloody Crankshaft! Once I know what that piece looks like, I can post my drawing…thank you for your answers and time.

My drawings of the Water Pump Assembly and the 2 Piece Timer, are on the MTFCA Form in their Gallery under VowellArt

I was hoping that someone here had a picture(s) of the Crankshaft. I can draw anything I see, but since my car is an early 1922 Touring and nobody I know locally has a 1909 anything (much less pieces of one), I was hoping that you folks here might actually have pictures of
