I’m still trying to attach the webbing to the firewall cowl
Finding where to poke the holes for the split rivets didn’t turn out well. I read somewhere to use an awl, but that didn’t go well either—that webbing is tough.
My plan is to use green masking tape, poke holes in it with the awl and then transfer the masking tape from the cowl to the webbing, attach the whole thing to a 2x4 and hammer away, then see if the holes line up on the cowl.
Any suggestions? Ideas?
I bought a rivet setter made for the job, but I couldn’t get enough leverage to split the rivets, so I made a pair of cheaters from black pipe to fit over the handles.
