Setting valve clearance

I’m working on my 26 coup that had a blown head gasket and low compression. It looks like there’s not enough clearance on the tappets. I don’t have the machine for grinding the valve ends so does anyone know how to do this with homemade tools?

You really just need a belt / disc sander from Harbor Freight. It will come with a T square to keep the valve stem perpendicular with the disc so you can grind it to set the clearance. It’s an easy job after that.

I have since decided to replace the, cam, lifters, valves and valve seats. I guess I’m just biting the bullet and rebuilding the whole engine!
