My 14 project is missing one rear and one front spring shackle. I was told its not safe to use used shackles and it would be best to buy the Chaffins new ones. Is that correct and if not who has the two shackles I need? They are the figure eight type. Thanks, Art
Used ones are OK if they are in good condition. Reproductions are available from Langs, Chaffins, Snyders and other vendors.
If you install new shackle bushings, try fitting your worn shackles into them before you ream the bushings. Sometimes a worn shackle will fit perfectly in an unreamed bushing.
